One of Chattanooga's biggest rivalries takes center stage Friday night as McCallie travels across town to face Baylor in another highly anticipated matchup between the two longtime rivals.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Baylor's Heywood Stadium, with the game receiving national attention as the MaxPreps Game of the Week.
McCallie enters the matchup with a 3-3 record after opening the season with three consecutive victories over Lipscomb Academy, St. Mary's Ryken and Father Ryan. The Blue Tornado will look to get back in the win column Friday after navigating a challenging September schedule.
The Blue Tornado offense has shown its ability to move the football through the air this season. Junior quarterback Louis Fortier has thrown for more than 1,500 yards and 12 touchdowns, while sophomore receiver Levi Scott III has recorded more than 400 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
McCallie will face a Baylor team that enters Friday night 6-0. The Red Raiders have wins over Brentwood Academy, Loudoun Sports Academy, Rabun Gap, Trinity, CPA and Montgomery Bell Academy and are 2-0 in region play.
Baylor's offense features quarterback Keegan Croucher and running back David Gabriel Georges. Georges has rushed for 852 yards and 15 touchdowns through the Red Raiders' first six games, while Croucher has helped lead an offense that is averaging more than 40 points per game.
Friday will add another chapter to a rivalry that has produced memorable games throughout its history. Last season's regular-season meeting was decided by just three points, with Baylor earning a 38-35 victory. The teams met again later in the Division II-AAA state semifinals.
This year's meeting brings another opportunity for the Blue Tornado in a matchup that extends well beyond records. With two programs separated by only a few miles and generations of history between them, McCallie and Baylor will once again meet under the Friday night lights.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday, October 2, at Baylor School.
Go Big Blue!
