McCallie School's track and field program delivered a dominant performance at the Nike Indoor National Track Championships this past weekend at the historic Armory Complex in New York City, earning two national championships, multiple All-American honors, and a 4th-place overall team finish.
McCallie opened the meet with a statement victory in the 4×1 Mile Relay, where Ian Jacobs, Luke Bowen, Henry Webb, and Andrew Beroset posted a nation-leading time of 17:18.13, averaging under 4:20 per mile. The Blue Tornado outpaced top programs from Florida, Louisiana, Oregon, Michigan, New York, Colorado, and California.
The team added a second national title in the 4×800 Relay, as Matthew Gabbert, Luke Bowen, Ian Jacobs, and Henry Webb clocked 7:46.73, finishing just two seconds shy of the Nike meet record—set in 2024 by another McCallie squad.
One of the most exciting races of the weekend came in the Distance Medley Relay, where McCallie's team of Jacobs, Andrew Smith, Webb, and Beroset finished third, earning All-American honors with a new school record of 10:00.44.
On Sunday, senior Andrew Beroset capped his exceptional weekend by earning his third All-American honor, placing fifth in the mile with a time of 4:05.61—his third race in as many days.
Additional standout performances included:
- Andrew Smith, who recorded the fourth-fastest 200m qualifying time at 21.34.
- Elliot Haisten, who ran 8.35 in the 60m hurdles, missing the Emerging Elite final by just 0.01 seconds.
- Middle school athletes also impressed on the national stage:
- Jack Beroset (7th grade) ran a national-leading 4:36.50 mile for 13-year-olds.
- Miles Kirksey (8th grade) posted a strong 4:53.80.
As a team McCallie finished 4th-place at the Nike National Indoor Championships.
